Biography and Experience
Paul Murdoch, born the son of a slater in 1961, began performing on stage at the age of eight and since his teens has played live music all over the world. He gained an honours degree in zoology at Glasgow Uni then went on to work in the vet pharmaceutical industry for 32 years. After winning national and global awards for marketing ideas and achieving constant sales success, he ended up on the commercial leadership team of Novartis UK. His first book was published in 2008 and he has gone on to produce a further seven novels. Paul wrote the children's eco-thriller - Windscape, which was nominated for the Grampian Children's Book Award. The follow up - The Egg Thief was released in 2017. Paul released Sunny during the Aye Write Festival in 2018. This book has been compared to ‘The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas’ and ‘Divided City’. Paul also penned children’s picture-books, which have been used by UNICEF and other charities all over the world to teach English and to help younger children with counting. Paul has over eighteen years experience of author visits; not just in the UK, but all over the world - with hundreds of schools, libraries, specialist groups and festivals attended, he has seen more than 50,000 children in that time. His books - Old Bloke Goes Running and Old Bloke Goes Swimming are quite a departure from his other books, a kind of tongue-in cheek look at trying to get fit in your fifties. The books have already received great reviews and have featured on BBC Radio Scotland.

He is currently working on several screenplays for TV and Film.
Musically, Paul has played the UK and abroad as a guitarist and singer both in bands and as a solo performer. His original material, such as his acclaimed song, Golden Rust, all about dementia, entered the Scottish charts and has featured in the national press here and abroad. He was honoured for his musical contributions in Haarlem, Holland, where a city centre mural, painted by renowned Dutch artist, Eric Coolen, depicts him playing.
Paul has appeared on TV, Film and Radio. During lockdown, Paul rediscovered his love of nature photography and after gaining a large Facebook following secured a regular nature column in the Clydesider Magazine and various professional photography and training assignments with NHS professionals and Local Councils.

Paul worked with Abertay University and FITSTARS to develop educational apps and games that help with young children's fitness. This also involved various cross-party meetings at the Scottish Parliament chaired by Asthma UK’s Gordon Brown.
Paul is an Asthma UK Children's Ambassador.
Asthma UK has endorsed and arranged many of his school visits.
Paul has written screenplays and adapted stories for TV and Film.
Paul has been inducted into the Helensburgh Heroes Center Hall of Fame for his services to Literature.
Paul worked with the Swiss Pharma company Novartis for 27 years in Sales Management and sat on the UK Veterinary Commercial Leadership Board. He won the Global Sales Award in 2006
Paul has helped more than 30 individuals and charities publish their own books over the years. ‘I am an encourager that believes in empowering others to achieve their dreams.’
Paul has given Nature and Wellbeing presentations to many groups all over Scotland. He also worked with Denny High School on Climate Change and its potential effect on Global populations.
Paul has produced many videos and short films for Councils and Magazines. Wildlife, Social, and Historical. His film, ‘Picture Normality’ was featured in the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival in 2021.
